The Astronomy Club of Ideal Indian School conducted an interschool astronomy quiz competition, Astro Quiz 2023 on 8th Feb 2023. The competition was held in KG auditorium. Ten teams from different schools in Qatar registered for the competition. A preliminary test was conducted initially, of which 6 teams were qualified for the finals. The prelims began at 8.00 am followed by the main event.
The competition was held in the presence of the Principal, Mr. Shaik Shamim Saheb and the Heads of Sections. Renowned astro-photographer Mr. Ajith Everester was the quiz master. Raajasri Sivadasan of class 8H, girls’ section and Niranjan A K of class 8K, boys’ section, represented Ideal Indian School. There were six rounds in all for the competition, including the visual round and the rapid fire round.
The competition was an exciting one in which Birla Public School won the first position with 72 points. Second position won by Ideal Indian School with 62 points and third position by Noble International School with 45 points. Trophies and certificates were awarded to the winners by Principal Mr. Shaik Shamim Saheb. Participation certificates were given to all other contestants. Quiz master Mr. Ajith Everester was honoured with a memento.
The Asst. Head girl, Mary Stenicka of girls’ section welcomed the gathering. Ms. Masarath Jehan, teacher girls’ section, anchored the program and Rachit Mittal of Boys’ section proposed the vote of thanks.
