KATARA SPACE SCIENCE PROGRAMME

   On 25th September 2024, students from Ideal Indian School took part in the September Edition of Katara Space Science Programme at Al Thuraya Planetarium, Katara. 50 students from boys’ and girls’ section belonging to grades 8, 9 and 11 attended the workshop. The programme started at 9.30 am with an introduction speech given by Mrs. Rashmi Agarwal, the founder and president of MAPS International WLL. The keynote speakers were Dr. Essam Heggy, Space scientist NASA, Mrs. Lalitha Ramachandran, Retd. VSSC-ISRO scientist and Mr. K Ramachandran, Retd. PSLV Director at ISRO. Dr. Essam Heggy provided a deep insight on ‘ How mapping water on Mars helps resolve middle east climate questions’. He emphasized that studying about the Mars would help us understand the future of the Earth. ‘Journey of a space scientist’ presented by Mrs. Lalitha Ramachandran focused on explaining the dedication and hard work of the scientists behind Indian space missions. Her journey at VSSC and ISRO inspired the audience. Mr. K Ramachandran, the third speaker, shared his expertise in satellite launch technologies and India’s space missions.Finally, students enthusiastically participated in an interactive session and quizzing round. Certificates were distributed to the participants after the completion of the session and the students returned back to school by 1.20 pm.

Ms. Nishima Raahid and Ms. Seeja Santhosh escorted the students of girls’ section; Mr. Anvar, Mr.Riyas and Mr. Ajmal accompanied the students of boys’ section.
