SCHOOL PARLIAMENT ELECTION 2024

 Purpose and Objectives: The primary objective of conducting elections is to instil a sense of responsibility, fairness, and civic engagement among students. Through participating in elections, students learn about the importance of voting, respecting diverse opinions, and accepting election outcomes with sportsmanship. The elections also aim to identify capable leaders who can represent the student body effectively.

Preparation and Organization: The election process at our school begins with the formation of an Election Committee comprising teachers and students. This committee is responsible for overseeing the entire electoral process, ensuring fairness, and maintaining transparency.

Preparation and Announcement

  • Election Date 21.05.2024: Announced a month prior to allow candidates time to prepare.
  • Last date of receipt of nomination 26.05.2024: Distributed two weeks before the election, with clear guidelines on eligibility and campaign rules.
  • Scrutiny of nomination papers 27.05.2024: Along with the election committee heads of sections was also been a part of the nomination ceremony.
  • Candidate Requirements: Students needed two teacher recommendations to qualify.
  • Campaigning  29 &30.05.2024: Limited to one week before the election. Activities included posters, speeches, and social media campaigns approved by the student.

Election Process

  • Voting Method: Electronic voting system using school-issued laptop to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ballot Design: Simple, user-friendly interface displaying candidate names and positions.
  • Voting Booths: Set up in the bio-lab to ensure privacy.
  • Monitoring: Staff and student volunteers supervised voting to prevent tampering.
  • Voter Education: Sessions conducted in homerooms explaining the importance of voting and how to use the electronic system.

Counting and Results

  • Automatic Tallying: Immediate results were generated by the electronic system.
  • Announcement: Results were announced during an assembly at the end of the school day.
  • Certificates: Winners received certificates and were introduced to the school community.
