World Food Day was celebrated on 16th October 2022 in the Girls’ section with great fun and fanfare. The event was coordinated by Ms. Priya Thiagarajan and various activities were planned and conducted for the students from grade 5-12. Students from grades 5 and 6 were asked to showcase their skill on food without fire. The students made a variety of dishes from salads to sandwiches. Grade 7 and 8 were given a talk in the KG Auditorium by Dr. Nazima Bi Shaikh, HM Girls’ section on the topic “Healthy Breakfast: Productive Day”. An insight into the importance of having breakfast every day, nutritional aspect and hygiene was given to the students. The students attended the talk with great interest and interacted very well. The talk was concluded with a quiz which was actively participated by the students. Our Principal Mr. Shaikh Shameem Saheb also shared his thoughts on the event.
Grades 9 and 10 showcased their artistic skills on fruit and vegetable carving. It was a way to show how food can be made interesting through presentation. Students came up with innovate ideas and gave it their best.
Grade 11 and 12 showed their culinary skills by showcasing food from around the world. Students came up with various dishes from different places from Italy to Africa to South Asian cuisine. The students also dressed in the traditional costume of the region and explained the showcased dishes.
The students from different grades were assessed by various criteria for judgement by Mr. Ashok Tiwari VP Boys’ section, Mr. Sajid Shameem AHM Boys’ section and teachers from the KG section. The students were declared winners based on the scores of all the judges. Girls’ section AHM Ms. Khatija T C attended all the events with great enthusiasm and encouraged the students.
Overall, it was an eventful day with the students learning the importance of food and how it can be made interesting.
