Sustainable Week[G.Sec]

The Eco Club of Ideal Indian School conducted various activities in Boys’ and Girls’ sections on Sustainable Week from 8th to 12th December 2024-25 to promote environmental awareness, health, and sustainable practices among children.

Day 1: POSHAN Abhiyaan (8th December 2024) – The day began with a pledge-taking ceremony in the morning assembly to emphasize the importance of nutrition. Green badges were distributed to teachers and Heads of Sections. Students from Grades 5 and 6 participated in an essay writing competition on the topic “Shree Anna: The Powerhouse of Nutrients.” A group discussion titled “Let’s Talk About Anemia” was conducted during science periods to spread awareness about anemia.

Day 2: Plastic-Free Day (9 December 2024) – Students participated in an awareness walk with placards on reducing plastic usage and pasted posters to spread the message. Students observed a plastic-free day by avoiding plastic tiffin boxes, bottles, and disposables, while teachers conducted lessons on reducing plastic dependency. A debate on “Plastic vs. No Plastic” was organized for Grade 11 and 9 students to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of plastic use.

Day 3: Tree Plantation (10 December 2024) – Students of various classes participated in a plantation activity by bringing and planting saplings, encouraging greenery.  Students made eco-friendly bird feeders using materials like coconut shells, thread, and glue, promoting care for wildlife.

Day 4: Save Electricity and Water (11 December 2024) – Students from created items from waste materials as part of a “Best out of Waste” activity. They prepared PowerPoint presentations and placards on conserving electricity and water to raise awareness. They also engaged in report writing and poster-sticking activities by inspecting taps for leaks and placing posters promoting water conservation in washrooms.

Day 5: Clean-Up Drive (12th December 2024) – Students of various classes participated in the “Clean My Desk Campaign,” ensuring cleanliness during their classes. They carried out a corridor clean-up activity during the first and second breaks, maintaining hygiene in common areas.

Sustainable Week 2024 successfully inspired students to adopt eco-friendly habits and created awareness about crucial global issues like nutrition, waste management, and resource conservation. The activities fostered creativity, teamwork, and environmental responsibility among participants.
