NO BAG DAY [8/9/24]

NO BAG DAY gives kids the freedom to learn through play and creativity, fostering a love for school beyond the books”

On September 8th, 2024, the Ideal Indian School Girls‟ section carried out different activities on „No Bag Day‟ for students of class 5. No Bag Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, providing students with a unique opportunity to engage in educational and creative activities without the burden of their school bags.

As a part of „No Bag Day‟, students made a poster on how it is important for everyone to have an equal opportunity for being literate, and getting education was done during the English period. This activity was done on the basis of International Literacy Day, and children included slogans and quotes in their posters.

The science teacher-led activities included making an image plate of nutrients based on the chapter “Food and Health.” Materials for the activity were brought by the students. All the students actively participated, which was incredibly enjoyable. This activity helped the students to learn about different types of nutrients and their importance.

In the mathematics period, students form the structure of images like a bus, flower, truck, etc. by using the factors of the numbers. This activity helped them to understand the factors of numbers.

In the social science period, students drew the diagram of the rotation and revolution of the earth on chart paper. All students colourfully made their charts. This activity helped students to understand the two motions of Earth.

Qatar history teacher-led activities, in which students prepared an album on the topic

“geographical features of states of Qatar,” which included wild plants, animals, and landforms. All of the students participated in the activity with great energy during the entire period, which was incredibly enjoyable. Students took the colourful paper as the material and stuck pictures on it. Each student created an album that displayed their talents.

Role play was conducted during the Islamic period, and it helped the students to grasp Islamic principles, develop respect and confidence, and also helps to practice good manners. For the Moral Science period, students wrote and sang the national anthem of India. It inculcates patriotic feelings towards their motherland.

In PE period, students participated in the ball-passing relay; it helped to build quick reactions and team coordination among them.

In the AI period, students were asked to create an algorithm and flowchart with the help of the compute in the lab.

The teachers of second languages conducted different activities, In the Hindi class, the teacher conducted an activity to paste pictures of a balanced diet and wrote a slogan about it. It helped the students get a better idea about a balanced diet. In Urdu class, students made a kite and wrote a sentence on the topic ‘Meri Patang‟. It helped the students to increase Urdu vocabulary. Action songs were conducted in the Malayalam period. In the Arabic class, Arab students decorated the classroom, and that enhanced their creativity and teamwork. Non-Arab students conducted a word game, and all the students actively participated and all enjoyed the activity. Students of Tamil conducted the activity that related to „Month‟, which helped the students to understand more about Tamil months.

A fireless cooking contest for class 5 students was conducted on the 7th and 8th periods. All energetically participated in the cooking contest, and they enjoyed it nicely.

Girls‟section organized a fireless cooking competition for class 5 students during the seventh and eighth periods Fireless cooking has several advantages, including the preservation of nutrients. By using lower temperatures, it retains essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants in food. Promotes Gut Health: Techniques like fermenting and pickling introduce probiotics, beneficial for gut health, Reduces Inflammation: Certain methods help reduce inflammation, a key factor in chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, and arthritis,

Improves Digestion: Flameless cooking aids digestion by breaking down food, making absorption easier, Boosts Immunity: Probiotics and fermented foods strengthen the immune system, aiding in disease prevention.

A total of 90 students, with 3 groups having 6 members in each group from each division, participated. The program began at 12.05pm and came to an end by 1.15pm. The class teachers of each class were the invigilators. According to the rule, students prepared food without the use of fire. A maximum of 8 ingredients were used to make the food item, and the time limit was about 30 minutes. All the cutting and preparations were done at home. Only the final assembly and presentation were done in school.

The program is intended to convey the importance of a healthy diet and the benefits of fireless cooking to students. In addition, it was meant to improve the students‟ time management, creativity, teamwork, and hygiene. All the pupils participated actively and enthusiastically throughout the program. The vice principal Dr. Nazima Bi Shaikh and headmistress Ms. Khatija T C were also a part of the program and encouraged the students as well.The final judgment was done by Mrs. Priya and Mrs. Masarath, teachers of Ideal Indian School.
