The Department of Science and the Eco Club of the Girls’ Section of Ideal Indian School, Doha, Qatar, jointly organized Sustainability Week 2025 on 19th, 22th and 23rd October 2025. The event was conducted under the themes “Sustainable Energy, Sustainable Earth,” “Go Green,” and “Be Fantastic: Cut the Plastic.” The celebration aimed to foster environmental awareness, promote energy and water conservation, and encourage students to adopt sustainable habits in their daily lives.
Throughout the week, a variety of activities were planned to actively involve students from Classes 5 to 11. The celebrations began on 19th October 2025, the theme of the day was Theme: “Sustainable Energy, Sustainable Earth”, with a Video awareness on “Electricity & water conservation day” focusing on the importance of energy and water conservation during science period for Class 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th students. And a group discussion was conducted on the topic: “Energy conservation through smarter living” during science period.
Quiz-prelims for students from Class 5th to 8th, which tested the students’ knowledge about environmental issues, renewable energy, and sustainable practices. Selected students also delivered inspiring awareness speeches and presentations, encouraging their peers to take small steps toward making a big difference in conserving the planet’s resources. Interactive class discussions, video sessions, and group discussions helped students understand the critical need for sustainable resource use. Students shared innovative ideas on how to reduce electricity and water wastage both at school and at home.
On 22nd October 2025, various activities were conducted with the theme “Go Green”. To instil creativity and hands-on learning, the Eco Club organized a special activity titled “Eco-Bookmarks – Turning Waste into Art,” where students from Classes 5 and 6 used recycled materials to create beautiful bookmarks. This activity highlighted the idea that waste can be transformed into something useful and artistic.
The “Go Green Awareness Walk” was another highlight of the day. Students from Classes 8 and 9 participated enthusiastically, carrying placards and chanting slogans on environmental protection and green living. Their vibrant participation spread the message of sustainability throughout the campus. The Plantation Drive under the slogan “Sow Today, Save Tomorrow” added a refreshing touch to the event as students brought saplings and planted them within the school premises, reinforcing the importance of increasing greenery and taking responsibility for nature.
Senior students of Class 11 took part in an engaging debate competition where they discussed various environmental issues, demonstrating their critical thinking and communication skills. The debate sessions encouraged logical reasoning and awareness of global environmental challenges.
The celebration concluded on 23rd October 2025 with the theme “Be Fantastic: Cut the Plastic”. This was followed by a Clean-Up Drive titled “Towards Zero Waste,” where students participated in classroom and corridor clean-up activities. The “Clean My Desk Campaign” for Classes 5 to 7 promoted cleanliness, hygiene, and responsibility among students. The final rounds of the quiz and debate competitions were also held and winners were recognized for their outstanding participation.
The Sustainability Week 2025 turned out to be an inspiring and educational initiative that strengthened students’ understanding of eco-friendly living. The collaborative efforts of teachers and students made the week both meaningful and impactful. Through discussions, campaigns, creative projects, and clean-up drives, the students learned valuable lessons about reducing waste, conserving resources, and protecting the planet.
The program concluded with a collective message emphasizing that sustainability begins with small actions and personal responsibility. The Eco Club’s initiative successfully instilled environmental awareness and inspired the young learners of Ideal Indian School to become proactive and responsible citizens of the Earth.
