EDU TALK SESSION-SUSTAINABILITY WEEK 2025

The Ideal Indian School, Doha – Qatar, successfully conducted an educational
trip for the students of class 10 and 11, to the National Museum of Qatar on
November 5, 2025. The trip was organized for students to attend an EDU talk
session focused on “Sustainability in Daily life,” held in conjunction with Qatar
Sustainability Week 2025. The week serves as a unique platform to promote the
nation’s sustainability vision as well as community engagement with relevant
stakeholders under an overarching umbrella to achieve the nation’s sustainable
development goals.
As part of Qatar Museums’ commitment to youth engagement during Qatar
Sustainability Week (QSW), the “Sustainability- Edu Talk” series brings
sustainability education directly to school students across Qatar. A selected
number of 16 students attended the program. Designed to spark curiosity and
action among students, the interactive sessions introduced key concepts such as
climate change, circular economy, and sustainable lifestyles through real-world
examples and engaging storytelling
Sessions were led by Mr. Hemant Nandanpawar, Senior Director, Climate
Finance and Stakeholder Management; Ms Anastasia, Sustainability science
communicator and Zaki Ahmed Mohammed, Director of Sustainability
Advisory at the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD). The
talks aimed to empower the next generation with knowledge, inspiration, and
practical steps they can take in their daily lives. The initial session by Mr.
Hemant Nandanpawar was on “Climate Action awareness for sustainable
contributions”, which is crucial for sustainable contributions by increasing

public understanding of climate change impacts, which encourages behavioural
change and societal support for mitigation and adaptation strategies. Students
felt inspired to adopt environmentally responsible behaviors in school and at
home.
Habits for reducing CO₂ emissions at Home and the concept of Sustainable
living were introduced by Ms Anastasia. Setting the AC temperature 2 degrees
higher to save energy, switching off AC/heating when not in use, insulating
homes to maintain temperature efficiency, Reducing hot water use and using
water-saving devices, Air drying clothes instead of using dryers, Running the
washing machine only when full and at low temperatures, Using LED lights and
efficient bulbs and Switching off sockets of unused appliances were the
simplest things the children can perform. These small changes in daily habits
were shown to have a large positive impact on reducing household carbon
emissions. They gained awareness of how their daily actions can affect the
environment and understood the importance of sustainable living and energy
conservation.
Students also learned about the Global Sustainability Assessment System
(GSAS) developed by GORD (Gulf Organisation for Research and
Development). The presentation focused on: The Integrated Life Cycle
Approach, which includes the stages of Design, Construction, and Operation of
buildings, The GSAS Categories, including energy, water, materials, site, and
indoor environment, Environmental challenges like air pollution, water
depletion, fossil fuel use, and climate change. This approach encourages
sustainable construction practices to ensure that buildings contribute positively
to the environment and human health.

from an early age. The EDU Talk session was a valuable learning experience. It
successfully motivated students to become environmentally conscious citizens
and contribute to building a sustainable future. They also got insight about
Qatar Sustainability Week, a National Campaign, aims to engage the
community in a wide range of sustainability-oriented activities raising
awareness among the wider community and showcasing the progress Qatar has
made in the areas of sustainability. The talk was a resounding success, and it is
hoped that the students will carry forward the lessons they learned and make a
positive impact on their surroundings. The experience will undoubtedly shape
their perspective on sustainability and inspire them to become responsible
global citizens, equipped to tackle the environmental challenges of the future.
