All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy

AN IMPORTANT AND BENEFICIAL ACTIVITY

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” is a very famous English proverb. We all have heard it many times. Sports is an important and beneficial activity. It was in Greece, Olympia that sports was first instituted, with the first Olympic Games recorded in 776 BC. Until now sports is played worldwide. Did you know that chess originated in India, named Chaturanga; 1st Asian Games was held in New Delhi in the year 1951 and the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal was Milkha Singh.

Many might argue that studying or reading books are more important than sports. But the truth is that both are equally important in life and are like the two faces of a single coin. Continuous work not only tires you but also reduces your productivity. So, to have better productivity and focus, it is good to adopt a sports activity. It can be any game that you like or even just a walk. Physical activity is good to ensure that you remain active and diligent in the way you work.

Sports helps the player to learn how to channel the energy for productive results. Just like education plays a major role in shaping the lives of individuals, sports too is a great source of success. Being interested in sports and games activities makes us learn how to tackle difficult situations in life and keeps the body relaxed and mind free of tension. It develops the habit of working in a team by inculcating a sense of friendliness among team members. It makes a person  mentally and physically tough by shaping the body and mind and removing fatigue and lethargy. It improves blood circulation thus improving the physical and mental well-being of a person.

Thus I would like to say that sports is important not just for physical growth but also for mental and emotional growth as well. No matter how hard you work or how long you work, to increase productivity and reduce lethargies, it is important to take part in sports.
