The Department of Mathematics, Ideal Indian School, Doha–Qatar, proudly organized International Sudoku Day on 9th September 2025 for students of Classes 5 to 8 for both morning and evening shifts.
Sudoku, one of the world’s most loved puzzles, is a number-placement game that strengthens concentration, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. It challenges players to fill a 9×9 grid so that every row, column, and 3×3 subgrid contains all digits from 1 to 9 without repetition.
The celebration began with the Preliminary Round held on 7th September, where students from all classes (5 to 8) morning and evening shifts participated enthusiastically. Based on their scores, the top two students from each class were shortlisted for the finals, making the competition intense and exciting.
For the finals, participants were grouped into two categories:
• Category 1: Classes 5 and 6 – 20 students
• Category 2: Classes 7 and 8 – 20 students
The Grand Final Round on 9th September witnessed a thrilling contest, as the selected finalists showcased their logical skills, speed, and focus while racing against time to complete the Sudoku grids.
Winners from both categories were awarded certificates of achievement, appreciating their talent, dedication, and problem-solving abilities.
The Head of the Department of Mathematics, Mr. Rafeeq Ahmed, encouraged all participants for their enthusiastic involvement and motivated them to take part in more upcoming events. The Mathematics teachers also cheered the students and inspired them to continue developing logical reasoning and problem-solving skills beyond the classroom.
The event was a grand success, reflecting the school’s commitment to fostering critical thinking, nurturing problem-solving abilities, and celebrating the joy of mathematics.
