The Department of English organised a vibrant series of events on 23rd April 2025 to celebrate Shakespeare Day, commemorating the enduring legacy of William Shakespeare and honoring his monumental contributions to literature and language. Students showcased their creativity and literary prowess through a variety of performances, presentations, and activities.




The formal programme commenced with a prayer by Raaed Salman of Class 11 B, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Raajasri Sivadasan of Class 11 F. The event was elegantly compered by Tomy James and Adidev Sajith of Class 11 B.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Principal, Mr. Shaikh Shamim Saheb, along with the Heads of Sections and Mr. Anwar Sadath, Head of the English Department. During the event, badges were conferred upon the newly appointed office bearers of the English Literary Club-Voice Out.

From the Boys’ Section, Fenin Shavaera of Class 11 A was appointed as President, and Mohammed Ashaz N of Class 9 A as Secretary. Representing the Girls’ Section, Raajasri Sivadasan of Class 11 F and Princia Annie Pinto of Class 9 H were appointed as President and Secretary, respectively. Ms. Shebin Basheer (Girls’ Section) and Ms. Rehana Begum (Boys’ Section) have been designated as the coordinators, tasked with guiding and overseeing the activities of the Club.

In his inspiring address, the Principal, Mr. Shaikh Shamim Saheb, emphasised the profound impact of literature on personal development, stating that those who nurture a love for literary works cultivate composure, resilience, and are better equipped to navigate life’s challenges. He commended the Department of English for its dedicated efforts.

The programme continued with a poem recitation by Neeraj Jeevan Das of Class 10 C and a motivational speech by Princia Annie Pinto. This was followed by the presentation of the Annual Report of the English Literary Club for the academic year 2024–2025, delivered by Sana Sayeed, highlighting the club’s notable achievements. Winners from various competitions were awarded certificates in recognition of their excellence. Fenin Shavaera then proposed the vote of thanks.

The celebration continued with the much-anticipated Inter-House Drama Contest, where talented performers brought iconic scenes from Shakespeare’s plays to life. The audience was captivated by the students’ eloquence, strong memorisation, and theatrical brilliance.

A total of eight teams competed—four each from the Boys’ and Girls’ Sections. In the Boys’ Section, Green House claimed first place, followed by Yellow House in second.

In the Girls’ Section, Blue House secured the top position, with Green House placing second. Abdur Rahman of Class 10 E was declared Best Actor, while Hishana Manoj received the Best Actress award. The second half of the programme was hosted with grace and confidence by Afreen Salma and Fiya Amrin of Class 12.

The performances were adjudicated by Ms. Sharon Soans and Ms. Aryalakshmi of the Junior Section. The overall event was meticulously coordinated by Ms. Poornima Ramesh Mestha.
