Read-A-Thon Week 2025 – 2026 (Junior Section)

The Read-a-Thon Week was enthusiastically celebrated at Ideal Indian School from 27th April to 1st May. It was a vibrant and engaging event aimed at encouraging a love for reading among students, particularly in the Junior Section.

The opening ceremony was held on 27th April with the inauguration of the Book Fair by the Principal, Mr. Shaikh Shamim Saheb. Following the inauguration, colorful cultural programs were presented. The students of the Junior Section performed a beautiful dance, expressing their love for reading and learning new things. The Junior Section choir captivated the audience with a song highlighting the importance of reading.

As part of the week-long celebration, students from the Junior Section visited the Book Fair conducted by Crescent Bookshop. The fair displayed a wide and exciting collection of books tailored for young readers. From colorful picture books to thrilling adventure stories and informative non-fiction, there was something for every child. The visit helped instill curiosity and excitement about reading, and many students eagerly explored and purchased books of their choice.

Throughout the Read-a-Thon Week, various literacy-based activities were conducted to make reading fun and competitive. For the Junior Section, the highlight was the Reading Champion contest. Ten students from each section of Grade 4 were shortlisted based on their reading performance and participation in the preliminary rounds.

The finalists demonstrated impressive reading fluency, comprehension, and expression. They read different stories with great enthusiasm and clarity, showcasing their growing confidence and love for literature.

Winners of the Reading Champion Competition:

  1. Neha Sreejith (4F) – 1st Place
  2. Maryam Faizal (4H) – 2nd Place
  3. Charvi Tyagi (4I) – 3rd Place

The Read-a-Thon Week successfully created a joyful atmosphere around books and reading. It was truly a week to remember—encouraging students to read more, dream more, and grow through the power of stories.
